We be cruisin’ (at Brilliance of the Seas - Royal Caribbean)
My apologies in advance for my absence over the next week or so,
I’ve got only two things on my mind, though.
You may be thinking that Christmas should be the only one,
Since my halls have been decked and the cookies are done.
But there’s something else preoccupying this mind,
I’m dreaming of beaches, umbrellas, and being completely wined and dined…
On a Christmas cruise is where you can find me; Bikini-clad Santa and with the traveling elves I’ll be.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
From drooling over the pages of House Beautiful, Elle Decor, and Domino at home to pulling fabrics, drafting plans, and writing specs, the life of a designer is exciting and always an adventure!
I am a [new] Interior Designer for a hospitality design firm in Atlanta, GA and while I have only been in my new position for a short time, I am loving every minute of it.
My inspiration as a designer comes from anything and everything.
As a runner, it could be greenery and tree line paths of a trail run…
that inspire a side table for a guest room…
Or the new “Color of 2014”…
that leads to the dining room of my dreams…
Or even the delectable dish I had on a weekend trip to Asheville…
That leads to the design of a renowned new restaurant; California Chicken Café, Los Angeles
See, there’s more to this southern belle than some running shoes and baking aprons. I’m designing up a storm over her on a daily basis and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
Today’s post was the #Elf4Health challenge for Wednesday and I’m linking up with Elle over at Nutrionella to share with you “my expertise!”
I woke up with that motivation this morning. That alarm went off early and while I was tempted to roll right over and sleep another hour, something pulled me out of bed. That force drove me in the dark to the gym, put my feet on moving treads, and pushed me through a monday morning run.
Since today’s #Elf4Health challenge was to take time to meditate in the morning, I knew I had to get up and run. Running clears my head. It makes me slow down (mentally) and just relax and focus on the things that I can control like my footsteps and the will to keep going. It lets me release the worries I have about the things that I have no control over. It is my happy place, my meditation.
Meditation can clearly come in all forms. Some days I meditate in the word, meditate in the beautiful weather, or meditate in the time spent with others. I embrace these precious moments, the ones when I really just let go. Definitely a necessity in this crazy life.
I hope you are able to take a little time today to meditate, however you do it, and just let go of those things that are bringing you down. I enjoyed this truth that I stumbled upon today from my Aunt. Truly makes me thankful for the ups, the downs, and the Monday’s of life.
“Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from
above and says, “Relax, sweetheart, it’s just a bend, not the end!”
What a busy week! And I loved [almost] every minute of it… could have done with minor clutz moments, lack of sleep, traffic woes, and the endless rainnnnnn, but all in all, this week was one for the books! While I was a terrible #elf4health this week (sorry Tamara!) I was able to get in a few good workouts, meals, Christmas pleasures, and time with the boy in the whirlwind of my week. Take a peak at my recap.
First Day of the new job #OOTD [ignore the mess]
FInding my all time favorite hummus at the Publix by the new workplace #success

Workout inspiration after a long day of work. #elf4health

Christmas music flowing through my headphones gets me through writing endless amounts of specs! #soundsofadesigner
Just being the best babysitter ever #meandmygang
Did some prepping of the dough for a couple christmas cookies I’ll be baking tomorrow, this morning. Spent the day [dodging the rain] tracking down Christmas gifts for cousins, stockings stuffers, and trying to figure out what the heck to get for the boy. Ideas?
I had a wonderful night with my munchkins making nanner pudding, and cookies, being silly and watching a disney channel classic, and then spending sweet time with each one before bed. Not to mention, when you and the mom are the same size, another closet to raid is a PLUS!
Man was my mind racing last night. I mean all night. I literally don’t think I ever entered a deep sleep… or a sleep at all for that matter!
After a long, sleepless night, I “woke up” ready to conquer Day 1! I’ll spare you all the nitty gritty details, but as far as first days in any new environment goes, it was pretty great. No complaints, and nothing I wasn’t able to handle! Ready to embrace the week ahead.
I had a wee bit of energy tonight when I got home, but only enough to do this lil number to get my Elf For Health Circuit challenge out of the way.

Looking forward to heading to bed, right about now; yes it’s barely after 10. Early morning, lots of coffee, and a full day ahead. I need my sleep, girlfriends!
